At 4 o'clock in the morning, Evan woke up and said: "I want pala.., I want pala..." (he was trying to remember a Croatian word): "pala...palacinka!" When he finally remembered, his eyes opened up wide, he jumped out of bed, ran to Matthew and kept saying: "Palacinka! I want palacinka!"

So there we were, standing in the kitchen with Evan really mad, screaming he wanted 'palacinka' (did I mentioned that a palacinka is a Croatian word for crapes, which my mom made often, and the boys adored). Every part of my maternal self wanted to whip up some flour and milk and flip a few palacinkas. But Matthew was standing right there providing that fatherly support that prevents me from reaching the ultimate push-over point, and gives me the ability to preserve at least few ounces of parental dignity.

After a while, I finally got Evan to calm down with a glass of milk (and a Croatian cookie).
